Position Summary: The Sales Manager will lead business development, revenue & gross profit growth efforts in the CIMTEC Automation and TAG Solutions businesses. This role is responsible for managing a team of account managers across the NC, SC, & VA regions, building strong relationships with end customers, OEMs, and System Integrators, and driving adoption of advanced automation solutions. The Sales Manager balances technical expertise with strategic selling, ensuring profitable growth while strengthening the company's market position.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and execute the regional/vertical sales strategy for automation, robotics, and vision solutions.
- Manage and coach a team of sales engineers/account managers to achieve revenue and margin targets.
- Forecast sales pipeline, set KPIs, and report progress to senior leadership.
- Identify growth opportunities in key verticals (automotive, electronics, packaging, life sciences, logistics, etc.)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with end users, OEMs, distributors, and System Integrators.
- Act as the executive point of contact for key strategic accounts.
- Guide the team in managing complex solution sales cycles involving engineering, procurement, and operations stakeholders.
- Maintain competitive knowledge of industry trends, new technologies, and competitor offerings.
- Recruit, train, and mentor sales engineers with both technical and commercial skills.
- Drive a culture of consultative selling and solution-based engagement.
- Provide coaching on account planning, opportunity management, and technical positioning.
- Collaborate with marketing to run campaigns, events, and trade shows.
- Coordinate with suppliers and principals to align product strategy, pricing, and joint account development.
- Ensure CRM data accuracy, pipeline discipline, and structured forecasting.
Qualifications: - Extensive sales, marketing and operations experience in the Automation Industry (preferably with a strong robotics, vision, and controls background).
- 10+ years leading, developing and coaching outside sales teams with a deep understanding of automation distribution and its value proposition to the market.
- Proven track record of hiring and building high-performance sales teams and establishing enduring relationships with customers and key suppliers to increase market share while increasing profitability.
- 5-7 years' experience in OEM, End User, System Integrator and Consulting channels and the ability to increase market share in all.
- Strong Business Development acumen.
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit with an established network (contacts).
- Experience in both high-volume transactions selling as well project-based cap-ex projects.
- Strong work ethic with proactive communication skills.
- Proficient computer and technical skills including working knowledge of Salesforce and MS Office 365 (including MS Teams)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, and/or related experience.
