JOB SUMMARY:

CITI Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Resident Field Technician to provide on-site technical support at a Wastewater Treatment Plant. This individual will serve as a key liaison between the operations team and CITI engineering staff, ensuring continuous functionality and reliability of electrical, instrumentation, and SCADA systems. This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring a combination of troubleshooting expertise, system optimization, and collaborative problem-solving in a mission-critical municipal facility.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as the on-site technical representative for CITI, providing responsive support and issue resolution for instrumentation, PLC, and SCADA systems.

  • Assist with the installation, calibration, and commissioning of instrumentation and control hardware, including flow meters, pressure transmitters, analyzers, and motor control equipment.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in control panels, remote I/O, and SCADA communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, radio telemetry, etc.).

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process instrumentation and control systems to ensure compliance with operational standards and permit requirements.

  • Monitor system performance and collaborate with plant personnel to identify areas for process improvement and automation optimization.

  • Interpret P& IDs, electrical schematics, loop drawings, and control logic to support real-time decision-making and field modifications.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance tasks, service reports, loop calibrations, and changes to control strategies.

  • Support remote engineering teams during system upgrades or control modifications, providing field insight and verification.

  • Uphold CITI’s safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA and local safety requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Automation, or related technical field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in field service or maintenance of process instrumentation, preferably in water/wastewater environments.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems (Wonderware, or Ignition), and common fieldbus protocols.

  • Experience with loop calibration tools (Fluke), multimeters, and handheld HART communicators.

  • Working knowledge of industrial control panels, motor starters, VFDs, and I/O systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including control drawings, P& IDs, and logic diagrams.

  • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with operators, contractors, and engineers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primary work is performed on-site at Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs and climb stairs/ladders as required.

  • Regular exposure to outdoor and industrial plant environments with varying weather conditions.

  • Use of PPE is required for safe access to operational areas.

  • Occasional off-site meetings or trainings may be required.
