AWC MSO is hiring a Health Care Assistant in Charlotte, NC. This is a full-time position.

A Womans Choice is seeking for an experienced, flexible and energetic self-starter Health Care Assistant with a proven record of exceptional hands-on medical skills to join our team.We are a woman-owned and operated community-based abortion care provider. AWC provides quality, compassionate abortion care services to people throughout North Carolina and bordering states. The Summary of Key Responsibilities includes direct patient care, clinic back-office operations, administrative support, and medical records management. It is performed under the delegation and supervision of the clinic manager and licensed providers (physicians or nurses). Includes, but is not limited to the following: Ability to engage patients, visitors, and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner, with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to initiate and conduct two-way communication in a clear, concise manner. Demonstrated flexibility in performing assigned duties across front and back office areas, while effectively prioritizing tasks, working under pressure, and following directions accurately. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear, accurate, objective, and concise documentation in patients electronic medical records. Enhance health care practice by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests within the scope of training and delegated tasks. Prepare patient for physician or advanced practice provider evaluation (e.g., room patient, take vitals, etc.), including interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (e.g., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure), and recording information in patients' electronic medical records. Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures in accordance with infection control and safety protocols. Assure prompt patient flow. Assists the physician with the evaluation and treatment of the patient as directed by the licensed provider and in accordance with clinic policy. Perform point-of-care tests such as Urine HCG (pregnancy test), hemoglobin, etc. Records complete and appropriate information in patient charts regarding symptoms, drug allergies, current medications, and dosages, escalating questions to the licensed provider when outside HCA training or policy. Restock the lab area daily, including all drawers and treatment trays; maintain inventory of medical supplies; and follow all procedures for expired supplies. Assist with patient intake and discharge processes, and support care coordination by facilitating individual patient referrals and their completion Train other designated employees to take vital signs and prepare patients for physician evaluation once deemed competent by the Clinic Manager or designee. Answer phones and return calls within defined time frames. Perform various clerical functions as assigned by management, monitor supplies, and assist the front office as needed. Sterilize (autoclave) and wrap instruments in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the clinic's infection control policy. Perform general cleaning duties, including: clean and restock treatment rooms and restrooms; clean floors; continually clean the general area; clean up after yourself; and spot-clean any surface that needs immediate attention, including the clinic's exterior. Displays effective communication skills with vulnerable patient populations. Vulnerable populations are patients who are made vulnerable due to their financial circumstances, place of residence, health, age, personal characteristics, functional or developmental status, ability to communicate and understand effectively regarding their health information, and presence of chronic illness or disability Scans documentation into patients electronic medical records and updates appropriate care guidelines for tracking/performance reporting. Maintaining and operating medical equipment within documented training and competency. Detecting changes in patients' health and promptly notifying licensed staff, as needed. Assist in the monitoring and recovery of post abortion patients under the direct supervision of licensed clinical staff. Maintain current CPR and/or BLS certification required for this role. Other duties as assigned that are consistent with this positions training, competency, and compliant scope under state guidance. Possess a strong commitment to A Woman's Choice values. Great verbal and written communication skills; comfortable speaking calmly and kindly to people of diverse backgrounds and needs. Confirm patients ahead of appointments using computer software. Assist patients with problems that impact their appointments. Assist in gathering and giving patients information. Completion of daily accountability forms. Assist in light office duties such as copying, faxing, and mailings. Work directly with the Clinic Manager to ensure patient support. Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: Must be passionately pro-choice. Must be able to work on Saturdays. High school diploma or equivalent. Current CPR and/or BLS Certification is required as a condition of hire for new Health Care Assistants. Incumbent Back Office Assistants transitioning into this role will be provided a defined timeframe and employer-supported pathway to obtain CPR/BLS, consistent with clinic policy and communication to staff. Excellent communication skills. Enjoy working as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to be flexible. Prior experience in a medical-related field is strongly preferred. Bilingual preferred but not required.
