Responsibilities

The Maintenance Mechanic I maintains utility, process and building equipment at a proficient level to maximize equipment availability and minimize overall maintenance cost. Work at a high level to maintain safety excellence, positive human relations, and ensure that environmental standards are maintained. Perform equipment inspections and repairs to utility, process and building equipment.Qualifications

• Associate's degree Associate's degree directly related to the position (e.g., Electronics/Electrical, Instrumentation Technology, Engineering, Refrigeration, HVAC, Welding/Metal Fabrication, or other applicable technical degree) PLUS two years industrial maintenance experience in the appropriate disciplines (e.g., Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Refrigeration, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing/Pipe Fitting, Welding, Production Machine Maintenance, High Pressure Boilers, Pure Water Systems, Utility Systems, Repair and Overhaul, etc.); OR HS diploma or equivalent with six years of industrial maintenance experience in appropriate disciplines (e.g., Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing/Pipe Fitting, Welding, Production Machine Maintenance, High Pressure Boilers, Pure Water Systems, Utility Systems, Repair and Overhaul, etc.)
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze maintenance problems and develop corrective actions in a timely manner
• Self-motivated, responsible, and Safety Oriented individual
• Ability to work with outside vendors and contractors to perform maintenance task

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and/or hear. Occasionally required to sit.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle 100+ pounds.
• Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc.
• Typically work is in a manufacturing environment where noise level is loud.
• Proper personal safety equipment needs to be used while performing this job and that equipment is dictated by the plant safety guidelines.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock, vibration, non-hazardous chemical agents and outside weather conditions.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
