About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Licensed HVAC Technician with at least 5 years of commercial or industrial experience on behalf of one of our clients, a global leader in home furnishings manufacturing and distribution.
Our client operates extensive manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and corporate facilities. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining a safe, efficient, and comfortable climate across large-scale facilities while ensuring system reliability and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Repair: Install, repair, and troubleshoot commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units (RTUs), air handlers, chillers, boilers, and air distribution systems in accordance with technical specifications and local building codes.
Diagnostics & Mechanical Service: Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures, replace defective components (compressors, motors, fans, controls), and perform brazed repairs as well as refrigerant recovery and charging.
Electrical Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical components including motors, contactors, relays, and power distribution systems (120V–480V) using electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
System Assessment: Evaluate equipment condition, recommend energy efficiency improvements or replacements, and assist with parts inventory management.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, EPA Section 608 regulations, and proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) utilization.
Technical Analysis: Read and interpret technical schematics, control sequences, and manufacturer manuals to resolve complex equipment issues.
Candidate Qualifications
Certification: EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Freon/Refrigerant License) required.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of commercial or industrial HVAC hands-on experience.
Technical Skills: Strong electro-mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
Tools & Safety: Demonstrated proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialized electrical/HVAC diagnostic instruments in a safe manner.
Electrical Knowledge: Practical understanding of power distribution, lighting, control circuits, and industrial electrical equipment.
Driver's License: Valid driver’s license.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Self-Management: Strong ability to work independently and manage daily work orders effectively.
Preferred:
3 to 5 years of industrial electrical experience.
State HVAC Contractor License or Journeyman Certification.
Experience with major Building Automation Systems (BAS) such as Trane, Carrier, Johnson Controls, or Honeywell.
Boiler Operator License.
Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification.
NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification.
