About This Job As a Physical Therapist, you play a vital role in helping individuals regain function, reduce pain, and improve their overall quality of life. You work directly with patients to assess their physical conditions, develop personalized treatment plans, and guide them through recovery. This position impacts patient well-being significantly, enabling them to achieve their highest level of physical independence and participate fully in daily activities. Job Duties and Responsibilities Performs comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose functional impairments and identify rehabilitation needs. Develops and implements individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practices. Applies therapeutic exercise techniques to improve strength, endurance, flexibility, and range of motion. Utilizes manual therapy techniques such as mobilization, manipulation, and soft tissue massage to alleviate pain and restore joint mobility. Provides comprehensive rehabilitation therapy for various conditions, including post-surgical recovery, injuries, and chronic diseases. Conducts gait training to correct walking patterns and improve balance and coordination. Implements balance training programs to reduce fall risk and enhance stability. Manages patient pain through various therapeutic modalities and techniques. Educates patients and their families on their condition, treatment plans, home exercise programs, and injury prevention strategies. Maintains accurate and timely medical documentation of patient evaluations, treatment progress, and discharge summaries, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Collaborates effectively with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes. Adheres to all professional and ethical standards of physical therapy practice. Required Qualifications Education/Licenses Possesses a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited physical therapy program. Holds current and unrestricted licensure as a Physical Therapist in the state of Montana. Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification. Experience Demonstrates proven clinical experience in a physical therapy setting. Applies foundational knowledge gained from clinical rotations. Knowledge/Skills Possesses strong knowledge in Patient Assessment, Treatment Planning, Therapeutic Exercise, Manual Therapy, Rehabilitation Therapy, Gait Training, Balance Training, and Pain Management. Excels in Patient Education and Medical Documentation. Exhibits excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills. Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Qualifications Holds specialized certifications (e.g., Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Sports Clinical Specialist). Possesses experience in a specific area such as outpatient orthopedics, acute care, or neurological rehabilitation. Physical Requirements/Work Conditions Stands, walks, bends, and lifts frequently throughout the workday. Possesses the ability to assist patients with transfers and mobility, which may involve lifting up to 50 pounds. Demonstrates manual dexterity and fine motor skills for performing therapeutic techniques. Works in a dynamic healthcare environment with potential exposure to various patient conditions. Adapts to a fast-paced setting that requires standing for extended periods.
