Description:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely transporting large truck bodies and components throughout the manufacturing facility, including moving finished bodies offline and delivering them to the next department in the production process. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth workflow and preventing production delays. The ideal candidate will have strong spatial awareness, attention to safety, and experience handling oversized loads in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move large truck bodies and parts.
• Safely transport finished bodies from the assembly area to the next stage in the manufacturing process (e.g., paint, hoist, or shipping).
• Ensure all loads are secure and properly balanced to prevent damage or safety risks.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections of forklifts and report any maintenance issues immediately.
• Work closely with supervisors, crew leads, and production personnel to coordinate material movement and prioritize tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations related to forklift operation.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification upon hire).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience operating forklifts, preferably handling large or oversized items.
• Ability to read and understand job instructions and production schedules.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset.
• Commitment to safety and quality.
• Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy materials and work in a fast-paced environment.
