Job Type: Full Time
Location: On-Site NSSC/Stennis Space Center
Tallon is recruiting for a System Administrator to support implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance for IT systems in a federal government shared service environment. Qualified candidates will have experience with Windows and Linux servers and applications including web services. Prior experience supporting virtualized infrastructure is required.
Responsibilities include:
- Support on-site schedule
- Manage and maintain hardware, operating system, and virtual machines in a local area network (LAN) environment.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and network devices ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Support Tier I/II troubleshooting of hardware, operating system and application incidents by researching, documenting, resolving and/or escalating incidents to external vendor support.
- Create technical drawings using Visio to include network, Virtual Infrastructure, and Application dependencies.
- Monitor system backups to ensure successful operations and perform file or system restores, as required.
- Deploy security configurations to ensure compliance to organizational cybersecurity policies.
- Support application developers with updates and configurations in Development and Test environments.
- Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations and monitoring and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices.
- Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
- Configure and manage Virtual Environments, Linux and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
- Design, build, configure and deploy Storage Area Network (SAN) volumes to virtual and hardware systems.
- Manage Disaster Recovery Operations, including configuration and monitoring of backup policies on on-prem equipment and in Cloud Storage Services.
- Build server baselines compliant with organizational Cybersecurity policies and requirements.
- Support senior system administrators with project support.
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of all systems, hardware and virtual.
- Apply knowledge of concepts, processes, practices and procedures to support technical requirements
- Support installation, configuration, and maintenance for operating system workstations and servers (virtual, cloud, web servers)
- Perform software installation and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
- Support installations, upgrades, and maintenance following IT policies
- Ensure workstation/server data integrity evaluating, implementing, and managing SW and HW solutions
- Ensure data/media recoverability following schedule of system backups and database archive operations
- Support media management including offsite storage and retrieval services
- Develop and support Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Conduct hardware and software audits for workstations and servers to meet compliance and configuration policies
- Develop and maintain comprehensive operating system HW and SW configuration database/library for supporting documentation
Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship)
- Ability to obtain security access (Public Trust level)
- 6+ years of related systems administration experience including:
- Proficiency managing Linux or Windows servers including web servers
- Experience supporting virtualized infrastructure
- Bachelor’s degree in computer field; equivalent years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (Bachelors/8 years, HS/10 years)
- Experience providing Tier I/II troubleshooting for hardware, OS, and applications
- Experience researching and documenting root causes issues for resolution or escalation
- Experience supporting application developers in Development and Test environments
- Experience with system backups and performing file and system restores
- Experience creating technical drawings with Visio
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Availability to support on-site work at NASA Shared Service Center (NSSC) / NASA Stennis Space Center
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field preferred
- Expert knowledge of Virtual Infrastructure and SANs preferred
- Experience with backup and recovery systems preferred
