Location/Region: This position is located in Chesterfield, MO
What's the role? As a Shipping Specialist, you will be responsible for picking, packing, and shipping customer orders while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all shipping processes. You will also handle receiving customer returns, coordinate with customer service for required shipping documents, and maintain a smooth workflow within the shipping department.
Sound Interesting? Here's what you'll do: - Monitor the system (Fishbowl) for fulfillable sales orders.
- Commit inventory in the system to pull stock from the correct location.
- Physically pick the required items and verify accuracy with a two-person sign-off.
- Pack products securely with a packing slip (generated from the system).
- Coordinate with regulatory teams to obtain any required shipping documents.
- Enter shipment details, including box size, weight, and tracking number, into the system.
- Generate and attach shipping labels from the carrier service's website.
- Stage completed orders on the dock and mark as shipped in the system.
- Receive inbound FG shipments from our sterilizer, and sort count/validate the load accuracy with the help of Quality.
- Assist the rest of the material handling team as needed:
- Kitting raw materials and subassemblies for WOs
- Receiving inbound deliveries as needed
- Processing ad hoc shipments, e.g. for R& D, Purchasing, etc. as needed.
- Completing regular inventory consolidation and cycle counting activities as needed
- Maintenance of 5S in the warehouse area
- Sort - e.g., ensuring only active items in good condition are present in the warehouse; all other materials are removed.
- Set - e.g., ensuring all items and locations are labeled correctly and organized; everything has a place and everything in its place.
- Includes item numbers, lot numbers, location identification, and related bar codes.
- Shine - e.g., keeping everything clean and the warehouse area safe.
- Standardize - e.g., developing and implementing training to ensure work is conducted consistently.
- Sustain - e.g., ensuring performance is evaluated to identify opportunities for improvement and improvements are implemented.
- Assigned by the department manager or another management team member.
Do you qualify? - 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution center, preferably in a material handling related role (order picker, shipping specialist, material handler, warehouse associate, etc.)
- Experience using an inventory control system, warehouse management system (WMS), or ERP software (e.g., Fishbowl, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, MS Dynamics) as part of core job function.
- Great attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task on different projects while maintaining high-quality performance
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Ability to lift and move packages as needed (up to 50 lbs.)
