The Doe Run Company is seeking a Mine Planner to create and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans by analyzing geologic data, survey maps, underground audits, and reviewing the production needs of the operations. Work with geology and mine production to achieve mine planning goals. This position is based out of our Buick Mine in Boss, MO.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in mining preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of 3D modeling (Vuulcan, Surfer, Leapfrog, ArcGIS), AutoCAD, and I-Series.
  • Basic knowledge of mine planning and MSHA rules and regulations.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate weekly and monthly meetings with mine production, technical services, geology, engineers, maintenance, and production supervision. Lead discussions regarding the plan vs. actual and provide insight and answers for grade or production variances.
  • Conduct analysis of ore reserves and identify preparation work needed to bring an area into production including development, mine ventilation, pumping, infrastructure, and waste removal.
  • Review ore body economic feasibility and mineability; work with mine management to identify resources needed along with creating a timeline to accomplish.
  • Assist mine management and senior mine planners with mid to long-term planning by providing insight and recommendations based on short-term plans.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements:

  • Regularly required to use a computer/tablet; Rarely required to use a phone/radio.
  • Regularly work in an office environment. Frequently required to work underground. Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts. May be exposed to moderate noise levels. Required to wear PPE when underground.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, talk and hear; Occasionally required to use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms. Requires clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
