Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - Long-Term Care FacilityJob Summary: A Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) in a long-term care facility is responsible for providing respiratory care services to residents with chronic respiratory conditions. The CRT works closely with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring optimal respiratory function and quality of life for residents.
Key Responsibilities: - Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct initial and ongoing respiratory assessments to evaluate residents' respiratory status and needs.
- Care Plan Development: Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized respiratory care plans.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation management.
- Monitoring and Documentation: Monitor residents' responses to treatments, document progress, and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Education: Educate residents, families, and staff on respiratory care techniques, equipment usage, and disease management.
- Emergency Response: Provide emergency respiratory care and support during acute respiratory distress or other medical emergencies.
- Equipment Management: Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of respiratory care equipment.
- Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory and facility policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Qualifications: - Certification: Must be a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with current state licensure.
- Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care or similar healthcare setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and positioning residents, and operating respiratory equipment.
Work Environment: - Setting: Long-term care facility, which may include skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, or assisted living communities.
