experienced and dedicated Dietary Aide/Cook to join our team in a

The
Cook is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, ensuring that
high-quality meals are prepared and served in accordance with established menus, portion control guidelines, and dietary requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining a
clean, safe, and
sanitary kitchen while working collaboratively with staff to meet the
nutritional needs of residents.
Key Responsibilities: - Maintain the kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, and sanitary manner.
- Prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities while ensuring meals are tasteful and appealing.
- Follow prepared menus and portion control guidelines.
- Accurately prepare special diets as needed.
- Record food temperatures for each meal.
- Prepare pureed foods as required.
- Work cooperatively and harmoniously with personnel across all departments.
- Ensure quaternary solution levels are maintained in sanitizer buckets.
- Assist in serving meals efficiently and courteously.
- Clean the cooking area, serving carts, and ensure all cleaning schedules are followed.
- Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing.
- Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
- Ensure the presentation of food is visually appealing for residents.
- Exhibit strong teamwork and willingness to work under supervision.
- Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility
- Must obtain a Food Handlers Card
- Experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook, or Dietary Team Member preferred
- Strong knowledge of nutrition and dietary restrictions
- Ability to adapt meals for special dietary needs
- Understanding of food safety protocols and sanitation practices
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Dependability to work scheduled shifts
