Position Overview

The Holiday Inn & Suites St. Cloud is seeking a talented and execution-focused Sous Chef – Banquets & Events to lead culinary operations supporting weddings, conferences, corporate meetings, conventions, and large-scale social events.

As one of the top event venues in St. Cloud, MN, this role is critical to delivering exceptional banquet experiences. You will oversee high-volume food production while ensuring quality, consistency, and flawless execution across all events.

This position is ideal for candidates with experience in:
banquet chef roles, catering kitchens, event kitchens, hotel kitchens, wedding venues, and conference centers.

Key Responsibilities

Banquet & Event Execution

  • Execute culinary operations for weddings, conferences, business meetings, conventions, and private events in St. Cloud
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Events Team to plan and deliver banquet and catering menus
  • Ensure all meals are prepared and plated to meet banquet standards and event timelines
  • Manage multiple events simultaneously in a high-volume hospitality environment

Kitchen Leadership

  • Lead kitchen team during banquet service, catering events, and conference dining operations
  • Train and develop team members in event execution, food presentation, and kitchen efficiency
  • Maintain strong leadership presence during peak wedding and event service periods

Quality, Consistency & Standards

  • Ensure food meets hotel brand standards, banquet presentation standards, and guest expectations
  • Maintain strict compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Execute consistent results across large-scale banquet production

Cost Control & Efficiency

  • Manage food and labor costs within a banquet and catering environment
  • Reduce waste and improve operational efficiency
  • Support inventory control and ordering processes

Cross-Team Coordination

  • Partner with banquet managers, event coordinators, and hotel leadership
  • Ensure seamless communication for event timelines, guest counts, and special requests
  • Support execution of large conferences, weddings, and group bookings

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Sous Chef, Banquet Chef, Catering Chef, or Hotel Chef preferred
  • Background in high-volume kitchens, banquet service, weddings, or conference events strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple events and tight production timelines
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules

Compensation & Total Rewards

TOTAL REWARDS:
This full-time position offers an estimated pay range of $20.00–$22.00 per hour, based on job-related experience, skills, and qualifications.
