This position is remote (virtual) and offices from home but must be located within the territory which is IA, MO, WI, IL

Job Description:

The Seed Field Marketing Leader has responsibility for seed marketing and sales execution in the assigned Sales Business Unit (BU), in this case, supporting Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri. The role reports to the Field Marketing Director with a dotted-line report to the BU Leader.

The team partners with brand marketing and sales leadership to leverage and align resources with opportunities. In addition, they advocate for the team cross functionally including coordination with procurement, finance, IT, agronomy, and product development, etc. The Field Marketing team acts as the funnel to and from the field, providing insights to Marketing as the "voice of the field" and pushing communication and key programs to their assigned BU. This leader is highly focused on driving local strategy and execution against WIGs ("wildly important goals"); local strategizing and approvals of marketing funds. The role allows for increased efficiency and speed of decision making freeing up people leaders to manage the broader business.

The Seed Field Marketing Manager works in tangent with a regionally assigned Crop Protection Field Marketer as a part of a 11-person team comprised of 6 CPP Field Marketing Leaders and 5 Seed Field Marketers (formerly called SELs) across BUs.

Duty or Area of Responsibility:

Leads seed business planning and execution in assigned BU:
  • Planning (Forecasting, BU Seed plan, Account Seed plan support)
  • Goal tracking (Benchmarking Local BU Progress to Goals)
  • Inventory Management (supply shortages, cuts)
  • Analysis (order trends, gap report for BU-level/owners, opportunities)
  • Marketing budget management (Discretionary Budgets, MIF, Complaint Management, Partnered Seed Funding) - strategic guidance and checks/balances on use of funds
  • Programs (design, final payment approval)
  • Consults on returns exceptions and target management
  • Support the execution on AARx and other specific programs to increase volume, market share, and internal and owner margin
  • Partner with and across Marketing teams including P& L leads, Market Activation and Data teams to develop and execute on marketing programs tied to BU
  • Communication liaison to/from Marketing to/from Sales


Leads regional execution strategy and key account connection to include:
  • Key Owner Engagement (partner to Seed Lead at Accts)
  • Partner Seed Collaboration (eg. Regional level, annual programs)
  • Strategic thought leadership for Advanced Acre positioning at key accounts
  • Assess portfolio value to market and gain insight into value and competitive positions on a regular basis
  • Works with BU sales leads and Account Managers in identifying opportunities through key product focus and profitability analysis with key customers


Leads BU Level Market Intelligence & Communication:
  • Market Intelligence (competitive intelligence, local BU-level, micro markets)
  • Lead weekly calls to coordinate activities with sales business units, Seed, Services and CPP (e.g., BU Level Seed communication Calls)
  • Feedback loop to Strategic Marketing
  • 2-way Market Intelligence for the BU & WFU


Coaching & Development
  • Support coaching and development of BU Sales teams (e.g., ASM, AM, SMD)


Required Experience/Knowledge/Skills (to be able to perform this job):

  • BS/BA in business or agricultural field
  • 10+ years of sales and/or marketing experience
  • Experience with Seed business within the assigned BU (products, programs, customers, agronomic practices, etc.)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to champion critical business needs and experience in change management to inspire and lead change initiatives
  • Ability to drive organizational priorities
  • Experience participating in and leading cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Ability to provide clear vision, direction and feedback

Salary range for this role is: $117, 920 - 176, 880
