Micro Ingredient Merchandiser - Animal Nutrition

The target location for this role is Land O'Lakes Corporate Headquarters in Arden Hills, MN, however this position can be remote (virtual) and located anywhere in the USA

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Micro Ingredient Merchandiser to oversee the amino acid category within our animal nutrition business. This role involves the procurement, pricing, and logistics management of amino acids used in animal feed. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the animal nutrition industry, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex supply chains efficiently. This role will have a direct report.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement:
  • Identify and source high-quality amino acids from reliable suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and manufacturers.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to ensure the best pricing and supply stability.

Pricing:
  • Analyze market trends and data to develop competitive pricing strategies.
  • Monitor and adjust pricing based on market fluctuations and cost changes.
  • Collaborate with the sales and pricing teams to ensure pricing aligns with business objectives.

Sales:
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to drive revenue growth.
  • Identify and target potential customers to expand the client base.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.

Logistics:
  • Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of amino acids.
  • Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for the transportation and storage of amino acids.

Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks in procurement, pricing, and logistics processes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate and manage these risks.
  • Regularly review risk management plans and update them as necessary.

Market Analysis and Reporting:
  • Conduct regular market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.


Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the sales, marketing, and pricing teams to align product offerings with market demand.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to drive business growth and innovation.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Animal Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, merchandising, or supply chain management within the animal nutrition or feed industry.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in market analysis and pricing strategy development.
  • Experience with logistics coordination and inventory management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant procurement software.

The salary range for this role is $105, 040 - $157, 560. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges .
