Description:

Job Summary

The Kitting Technician is responsible for preparing, organizing, and issuing complete material kits required for fabrication and production operations. This role ensures that all parts, hardware, and documentation are accurately pulled, staged, and delivered to the fabrication team in accordance with production schedules, helping to maintain workflow efficiency and minimize downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review work orders, bills of materials (BOMs), and drawings to identify required components
  • Pick, count, and assemble kits of raw materials, fabricated parts, hardware, and consumables
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, and revisions for accuracy
  • Stage and deliver kits to designated fabrication workstations or production areas
  • Label, package, and organize kits for ease of use and traceability
  • Communicate shortages, damaged materials, or discrepancies to supervisors or planning teams
  • Coordinate with inventory, warehouse, and fabrication personnel to ensure material availability
  • Maintain a clean, organized kitting and staging area
  • Assist with inventory counts, material tracking, and ERP/MRP system transactions as required
  • Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures at all times

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, kitting, or material handling preferred
  • Ability to read and understand BOMs, work orders, and basic fabrication drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic computer skills (ERP/MRP or inventory systems a plus)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and time-management skills

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move materials (typically up to 40-50 lbs, with assistance as needed)
  • Comfortable working in a fabrication or shop-floor environment

Work Environment
  • Manufacturing/fabrication shop environment
  • Exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial materials
  • PPE required as applicable

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)
  • Forklift or material-handling equipment certification
  • Experience in metal fabrication, welding, or machining environments
