What You'll Do As a skills worker at Fernbrook, you'll work directly with children, adults, and families, offering skill-building support that meets people where they are--emotionally and literally. You'll help guide clients on their mental health journey through compassionate care, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. Your core responsibilities will include: Work directly in daycare classrooms to support young children navigating emotional or behavioral challenges, fostering a nurturing, responsive environment where they can thrive Provide individual and family-based services outside of the classroom setting when needed Build strong, collaborative relationships with Jeremiah Program staff to ensure coordinated, trauma-informed care aligned with classroom goals and family needs Providing individual, family, and group skills services Collaborating with other providers and Fernbrook staff Staying current with required continuing education Apply a variety of evidence-informed, trauma-sensitive strategies to meet client needs in a respectful and professional manner Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services Meet expected productivity standards while ensuring quality of care Participate in regular supervision and ongoing professional development Uphold and model Fernbrook's mission, values, and policies Perform other duties as assigned to support program and client success This is a role for a natural connector--someone who thrives in collaborative environments and is driven to support families using holistic, compassionate, and culturally responsive approaches. What We're Looking For We're seeking someone who is: Passionate about mental health and supporting others Skilled in ethical decision-making and maintaining boundaries Comfortable working independently while being a team player Open to feedback, growth, and continued learning Tech-savvy and organized Committed to inclusivity, respect, and cultural responsiveness Physical Demands Ability to sit, listen, observe, and use a computer for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work Flexible work hours generally between 7: 00 a.m. and 7: 00 p.m. Regular travel is required to client homes, community settings, Fernbrook locations, and off-site placements. Salaried employees typically work 40-43 hours per week; additional hours may be needed to meet client and program demands. Hourly employees may work up to 40 hours per week. Overtime must be approved in advance by a supervisor. Education and Experience Requirements Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record are required for community-based positions. Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with agency and Department of Human Services requirements. Must meet one of the following qualification pathways: Current Minnesota Statute requirements for Mental Health Practitioner, or Current Minnesota Statute requirements for Clinical Trainee Preferred Qualifications Experience providing services to children, adults, and families.
