The Chief Credit Officer plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the credit risk functions within the organization. Responsibilities include developing and implementing credit risk strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure prudent lending practices in compliance with the company’s credit policy. The CCO will collaborate with executive leadership and key stakeholders to optimize credit decision-making processes and maintain a healthy credit portfolio.
What You’ll Do
Develop, implement, and maintain credit risk policies, guidelines, and procedures to effectively identify and mitigate risks in alignment with organizational objectives
Identify, assess, and monitor credit risk, exposure, and key risk indicators (KRI) to ensure compliance with the Loan Policy, company risk appetite, and industry best practices
Analyze and evaluate credit portfolios to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
Track credit performance using trend analysis of KRIs, Risk Reports, and the interest report to communicate and present reports to executive leadership and the Board of Directors
Collaborate with the business development team and executive leadership to establish sound credit criteria and decision frameworks
Provide guidance on complex credit transactions and exceptions
Oversee the contract origination, amendments, contract renewals, origination and on-going assessment of risk rating clients, and legal filing processes
Lead, monitor, and develop a high-performing credit risk and underwriting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development
Strategic planning and collaboration with cross-department stakeholders to help achieve company goals of profitability and production for the year along with overall business objectives
Ensure compliance with corporate credit policies, audit procedures, applicable laws and regulations related to credit risk
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or another related field
Minimum 10 years’ experience in credit risk management within a financial institution
Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
Deep understanding of financial markets, credit risk modeling including commercial, consumer, and mortgage credit
Exceptional analytical skills, regulatory knowledge, and proficiency in credit management software
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Compensation
The estimated salary range for this role is $169, 000-$228, 000, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
