We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Customs Brokerage Entry Lead focusing Northern Border in our Port Huron, MI location.

Job Purpose:

Administer customs and trade compliance activities to provide clearance of freight documentation through the relevant customs authorities, work with customers to guide and advise on customs regulation qualifications in line with business strategy and objectives, corporate guidelines and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under general/ limited supervision, support delivery of customs and trade compliance processes and activities to optimize service and cost performance for customs clearance
  • Provide timely and effective administrative support for import/ export documentation such as receiving, reconciling, consolidating/ summarizing documents and information
  • Conduct data capturing activities, feed data into customs operating system and set up master data for transactions
  • Conduct pre-alert screenings of paperwork, maintain documentation/ standard operating procedures and support in documentation archiving processes
  • Prepare filing of customs entries and execute post-entry work/ transactions
  • Handle and maintain customer part lists
  • Evaluate and monitor performance targets, update shipment information and physical status
  • Resolve duty, tax and billing issues/ discrepancies raised by internal and external customers
  • Conduct best practices and quality audits to ensure adherence to set quality, accuracy and timeliness of activities
  • Reconcile data and generate reports and updates for performance monitoring to support other team members
  • Follow and achieve compliance with established regulations and ensure proper usage of customs processes and policies
  • Resolve recurring issues faced during delivery as per defined processes, systems and methods
  • Support team members with less experience in different/ difficult situations
  • Research, identify and obtain the permits, licenses, and certificates required for customs clearance and general customs formalities
  • Advice customers on legal (e.g. trade compliance - shipments to sanctioned countries) and customs topics
  • Contact customs authorities
  • Individual contributor without direct responsibility for leading others
  • Provide assistance and training to lower level employees
  • Delegating and reviewing the work of lower level employees

Skills/Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of customs requirements and operational processing of customs activities
  • Long-term experience and proven track record in the customs segment
  • Fit for people management role
  • Brokerage license (if applicable)
  • Proficient decision making skills
  • High degree of written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Diligent attention to details

Pay Rate: $22.91 - $30.55/hr. (Based on Experience)
