The Tempel Steel team is hiring for a
Quote and Estimating Engineer (Industrial Motors). The person in this role will be responsible for generating quote models to support pricing decisions for our North American operations. This individual will conduct financial modeling
function as a scribe/memory keeper through quote iterations
and author quote letters in Tempel's pursuit to win new business and accommodate changes to existing business. Additionally
the individual will track progress
understand market trends
and provide aggregate meaning of Industrial Motors opportunities. This position will require the ability to read product drawings and utilize Excel. This role will be cross-functional and will be expected to provide back-up to teammates during peak times and provide service and support to customers and Sales.
- Synchronizes internal Industrial Motor Development
Sales
Manufacturing
Engineering
Procurement
Accounting
and Quality teams in the development/publication of quotations. - Develop quote model and capacity requirements
identifying exceptions and assumptions
and identifying and documenting all unique costs and issues. - Responsible for tracking progress of Industrial Motor quotes
understand market trends
and provide aggregate meaning of open offers. - Works with Purchasing group to secure mill quote.
- Initiates and conducts review of quote model assumptions with stakeholders. (Sales
engineering and ad-hoc for quality
operations
finance
leadership.) - Prepares and publishes quote letter and upon Sales team requests
supports the creation of customer documents needed in the quotation process such as filling out customer cost break down forms. - Participates in continuous process improvement activities such as brainstorming sessions and/or Kaizen events; providing thoughtful plans on how to reduce waste.
- Maintain records of quote letter word documents
quote letter PDF documents
DCF/quote models in centralized pricing storage system - Assists other departments and team members wherever necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (Engineering preferred)
- 5+ years' experience (Pricing/quoting role preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced experience with Excel)
- Familiarity or experience with continuous improvement processes (Lean
Kaizen) - Exposure to database/systems with reporting capabilities (Oracle & Microsoft Dynamics CRM)
