ABOUT THE ROLE

Amsted Automotive Group, Sterling Heights, is seeking an experienced Tool & Die Makers who will be responsible for supporting production operation setup and efficiencies by keeping tools and dies optimized as outlined below.

Days: 7: 00 am - 3: 00 pm

Afternoons: 3: 00 pm - 11: 00 pm +15% shift premium

Midnights: 11: 00 pm - 7: 00 am +15% shift premium

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Troubleshoot, Repair, Maintain and optimize transfer and line dies in press and out as required
  • Operate Tool room equipment and machinery with precision
  • Supports press setup and efficiency as a team to achieve posted expectations
  • Adherence to safety procedures and protocols
  • Uses root cause analysis, problem solving skills to promote efficiency and quality
  • Directly responsible to maintain product quality to print specifications where applicable
  • Must be available to work overtime as required to meet Customer Demand
  • Serves in the capacity of wastewater handler commensurate with completion of proper environmental training
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Adapt and promote Lean Manufacturing principals using 5”S” and Kaizen processes
  • Support the Company’s Goals and Objectives through Continuous Improvement action plan participation and completion

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Must demonstrate proficiency of Blueprint GD& T interpretation of Dies, Details, and Part Prints
  • Must be able to effectively troubleshoot and solve daily operational deficiencies
  • Usage of a computer and other productivity machinery such as control panels
  • Must be able to interpret C.M.M. or gaging information and adjust Tooling to maintain Customer Quality requirements
  • Five years’ experience in Metal Stamping, Prototype, Tool and Die Build or Die Repair Technician
  • Possess working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria to maintain manufacturing environmental standards to protect and preserve our customers product and the environment
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment to meet production standards
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Some college or technical trade manufacturing education is preferred

WHAT ELSE YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW

  • Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, stooping and performing repetitive motion tasks
  • Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds frequently
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with continuous exposure to noise
  • Must be able to work necessary overtime if required

  • 5 year(s): Metal Stamping, Prototype, Tool and Die Build or Die Repair Technician

Education
