Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Primary Function

Senior Manufacturing Engineer determines the most effective means for the organization to use capital, equipment, energy, and information to ensure that all assets have a plan to be maintained properly.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Writes procedures for the operation of new or existing manufacturing equipment.

• Designs/specifies tools and/or machines of varying types for use in the manufacture of products.

• Maintains/updates tooling drawings using AutoCAD.

• Advanced quality planning participant and leader.

• Support manufacturing, including training of Operators and Maintenance personnel, troubleshooting equipment, setup and work area design, ergonomics, and safety.

• Works with equipment suppliers to ensure that new and existing equipment meets requirements for quality, safety, and durability.

• Interfaces with Product Engineering, Quality, Test, and Design to assure that new products are easily manufactured to meet customer requirements.

• Team facilitator/leader function.

• Studies the product and its processing requirements, research best in class methods, and then designs both the manufacturing and information systems needed. Ensure equipment and processes are safety compliant.

• Plan layouts to provide maximum possible operating efficiency, quality, and to optimize capital assets.

• Responsible for interface with other departments to ensure all requirements are completed on time.

• Serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, guiding less‑experienced engineers and technicians, periodically leading small cross‑functional teams through complex manufacturing projects, and actively sharing expertise to develop the broader engineering organization.
