Job Title: DirectorFinance & Accounting Department: Administration Reports to: Chief Executive Officer FLSA: Exempt Division Administration Location Office Based Business Unit Administration Grade level 14 This position offers a starting salary range of $85, 500 - $102, 600 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Childrens Center of Wayne County (TCC) The Childrens Center, founded in 1929, provides evidence-based clinical therapy to children who deal with mental, behavioral, emotional, intellectual, and developmental health and educational challenges or may have experienced trauma. School + Community-Based Partnerships: We partner with K-12 schools and community organizations that serve children to provide clinical therapy, counseling, psychological services, and psychiatric evaluations, treatment & interventions. Child Welfare: In addition to the clinical therapy programs offered, The Childrens Center places children in licensed foster homes, and supports them throughout their time in the child welfare system. Child Well-being + Family Success: We operate an onsite family success center that promotes child-wellbeing and offers children and youth from all walks of life to access relevant mental health Im crisis prevention and child abuse and neglect prevention services. Advocacy: We champion child and youth well-being for those experiencing poverty-related issues, those within the child welfare system, and those in need of evidence-based, clinical therapy. TCCs mission is to help children and families shape their own futures. If as many children as possible, and their families can easily access comprehensive, evidence-based, clinical therapy that is integrated into and supports their everyday lives then, children will experience an improved quality of life where they have a true sense of agency and empowerment in their lives. Job Summary The Director of Finance & Accounting at The Childrens Center (TCC) is a leader responsible for driving the strategic direction and financial operations and outcomes for the organization. The Children's Center is a leader in child well-being, clinical behavioral health, child welfare, foster care, and adoption programs. This position requires a visionary and enterprising approach that supports the strategic vision of the Board and Executive Leadership Team to ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of all financial operations while fostering a positive workplace. Serving in this role means taking a key position in transforming lives and building a culture of excellence in childrens behavioral health, child well-being, and child welfare. The Director of Finance and Accounting is entrusted with adhering to a culture of high accountability within the Directors team and external accounting firm, emphasizing measurable outcomes and strategic goal alignment. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management and experience working in a nonprofit 501(3).CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to collaborate with teams across the organization.Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and GASB principles. Essential Functions The Director of Finance & Accounting works with the President & CEO and Accounting Firm to implement a financial plan that ensures the long-term financial sustainability of The Children's Center's mission. The director will work closely with the senior leadership team, board of directors, and other key stakeholders to achieve financial goals and objectives. Leadership Team As a key member of the Leadership Team, collaborates with colleagues to steward organizational outcomes by developing, executing, and championing strategies that foster a growth mindset among staff, support the agency's mission and achieve its business objectives within the purview of this position. Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations to include the annual independent audit, Form 990, audit schedules/PBC requests and management of the external auditor relationship. Ensure adherence to all funder and regulatory agency guidelines.Monthly review profit and loss statements with all department heads in the purview of this position and make adjustments accordingly and as needed.Collaborate cross functionally with clinical programs, philanthropy, and advocacy teams to advance efficiencies that improve agency outcomes and align to the business objectives for the agency Drive a positive workplace culture that demonstrates evidence of high accountability, inclusivity, and collaboration within the purview of this position. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of financial operations related to procurement, tracking of revenue and expenses, and invoicing on behalf of the Agency.Support the strategic vision of the Board and leadership of TCC in examining financial strengths, understanding the complex non-profit business model, and make strategic financial recommendations for continuous improvement. Responsible for payroll oversight and management, including approval, compliance, payroll-related GL activity, contractor/Foster Care payments and coordination of payroll funding.Responsible for treasury management, cash forecasting, liquidity monitoring, cash positioning and transfer decisions.Oversee Agency investment account and investment relationship.Serve as a liaison for the Audit, Finance, and Investment subcommittees of the Board. Review all accounts payable invoices and check requests in bill.com system. Weekly review of the accounts payable to include but not limited to foster care parents and consultants.Manage the outsourced accounting function, establishing priorities, overseeing month-end close and ensuring timely and accurate financial deliverables.Responsible for grant budgets, restricted revenue and expenditures, grant financial reporting and fiscal compliance.Analyze and present the financial results to the CEO, ELT, Board and appropriate Board committees, as well as required external financial reporting. Responsible for financial review of contracts, renewal monitoring, vendor agreements, fiscal RFPs and evaluation of financial proposals.Responsible for forecasting, sustainability modeling, scenario analysis and multi-year financial planning in addition to annual budgeting.Responsible for capital and fixed-asset oversight and related financial controls.Responsible for financial review of contracts, renewal monitoring, vendor agreements, fiscal RFPs and evaluation of financial proposals.Collaborate with programmatic, philanthropy, and operational teams to ensure financial alignment.Process manual checks with necessary. Review credit card summaries. Maintain records related to 1099s.Oversee A/R duties.Oversee banking duties to include processing transfers, balance review, and managing users.Represent the organization at external events, conferences, and meetings to enhance its visibility and reputation within the philanthropic community. Keep A/R aging over 90 days below established thresholds. Achieve no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies identified during the annual audit.Maintain days of cash on hand and operating reserves at board-approved targets. Physical Requirements Mobility-non-residential: Ability to traverse stairs and other uneven terrain to gain access to and to maneuver throughout offsite locations including office buildings and special event locations. Administrative Work: Ability to prepare and inspect documents in hard copy or electronic format. Ability to tolerate exposure to computer screens and operate computer/keyboard and other office equipment on a frequent and/or continuous basis. Communication: Ability to receive and exchange information and accurately and effectively communicate and converse with others.
