Job Description

ORBIS Corporation is hiring a Maintenance Technician in Orion Township, MI. This is a full-time position, and paying $25.00–$35.00/hour.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Performs all electrical and hydraulic maintenance and repairs according to company and maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as directed.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Empowerment to take responsibility for the quality of work performed.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Attributes:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
