The Opportunity
Lang Constructors Inc. is seeking an experienced Traveling Construction Superintendent to lead commercial and federal construction projects throughout the United States. This is a hands-on field leadership position for a superintendent comfortable managing jobsites independently, directing subcontractors, enforcing project standards, and representing the company professionally on government and commercial facilities.
Our projects include postal facilities, government buildings, renovations, additions, facility improvements, and other general contracting work. Many projects involve occupied facilities that must remain operational throughout construction, requiring careful coordination, scheduling, safety management, and communication.
Important Travel Expectations
This is a true traveling superintendent position, not a primarily local assignment.
- Travel is required for a minimum of 50% of assignments.
- Certain projects may require up to 100% travel and daily on-site presence for their duration.
- Extended assignments may last approximately 6–12 months, depending on project scope.
- Current project opportunities include the Midwest, Eastern and Southeastern United States, with potential work in additional regions.
- Candidates may reside outside Michigan, ideally with convenient access to a commercial airport.
- Michigan-based candidates are preferred when practical because they may also support local projects between traveling assignments.
- Travel accommodations and project-specific arrangements are provided for qualifying assignments.
The ideal candidate is committed to building a long-term career with Lang Constructors rather than seeking employment for a single project.

- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, and in-house field personnel.

- Maintain accurate daily reports, project documentation, and jobsite records.
- Coordinate RFIs, field changes, and construction issues with the Project Manager.
- Manage construction activities within occupied and active commercial or government facilities.
- Protect client operations, pedestrian access, facility security, cleanliness, and professional jobsite standards.
- Work collaboratively with union and nonunion subcontractors and multiple construction trades.
- Communicate effectively with project owners, government representatives, inspectors, and internal leadership.
- Support project closeout, punch lists, and final inspections.
