Summary
The eCAD Engineer leads electronic computer‑aided design (eCAD) activities for printed circuit boards (PCBs) for the automotive exterior lighting electronic systems and other emerging automotive electronics systems for Flex-N-Gate. This role focuses on developing and overseeing multi‑layer PCB layouts for automotive ECUs and cross-functional coordination to ensure robust products.

Job Duties
- Design, develop, characterize, optimize, validate, release, launch and maintain eCAD data for PCBs.
- Ensure that schematics, PCB layouts, and manufacturing data comply with Flex-N-Gate standards, electrical performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
- Ensure end-to-end traceability of layouts to requirements using requirements management tools (e.g., Altium, Polarion ALM, DOORS, Jama).
- Collaborate with multiple eCAD, CAD and manufacturing engineers globally to create products that meet customers' requirements.
- Maintain libraries of components, schematics, layouts, symbols, footprints, part attributes and documentation.
- Develop PCB stack‑ups, routing strategies, impedance control, and constraints
- Generate manufacturing and assembly outputs (Gerbers, ODB++, pick‑and‑place, BOMs)
- Manage PCB projects and report to program managers.
- Provide Electronic support to manufacturing plants and the product engineering teams.
- Comply with Flex-N-Gate and industry processes such as ASPICE, APQP Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Cybersecurity.
- Communicate and interface with OEM and suppliers.
- Review OEM specifications and integrate customer requirements into eCAD.
- Support system verification and validation planning (DVP& R), DFMEA contributions, and compliance reviews.
- Provide technical support during development, launch, and production for issues related to electronic system behavior, requirements interpretation, and change management.
- Maintain knowledge of automotive electronics technologies, communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, LIN, hardwire I/O), and regulatory requirements.
- Create and present technical information to other engineers and OEM customers through design reviews, technical discussions, and formal documentation.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with eCAD in automotive electronics or similar complex systems.
- Working knowledge of ASPICE system development processes and experience applying them to real projects.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 Functional Safety concepts at the hardware interface level.
- Understanding of design rules for automotive communication networks (CAN, CAN FD, LIN), hardwire-based system interfaces and EMC.
- Experience contributing to system design activities such as electronics design reviews, DFMEA, DVP& R, architecture development, or system validation.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
- 5-10+ years’ experience in electronics design.
- Hands-on experience using Polarion ALM, DOORS, or similar requirements management platforms.
- Automotive electronics experience related to lighting, controllers, wiring harnesses, sensors or actuators.
- Background in electronic system modeling, simulation, or analysis tools (e.g., PSpice, MathCAD, Altium, Ansys).
- Exposure to EMC and Environmental requirements, thermal considerations and design-for-manufacturability principles.
- Certification in PCB: IPC CID, PCE or equivalent. EMC/SI/PI Advanced Training Certification.
- Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC‑2221, IPC‑7351, IPC‑610, etc.)

- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of experience and/or Master of Science with 5 years of experience. Automotive electronics experience preferred.
- Must understand DFMEAs, DVPR& Rs, reliability requirements and quality design and robust validation testing.
- Experienced in circuit design and simulation
- Worst Case Circuit Analysis using Math, CAD or equivalent.
- EMC circuit design robustness and testing requirements for automotive products.
- Embedded microcontroller application designer using C or C++. CAN and/or LIN buss programming ability a plus.
- Circuit thermal analysis with CAD experience.
- Ability to handle multiple projects. Can integrate OEM requirements into design while managing both supplier and OEM expectations.
- Strong personal and communication skills.
- Must work well with cross-functional teams.
