Position Title Sr Director - Compensation
Location Nationwide, MI 48098
Job Summary The Sr Director - Compensation oversees the day-to-day management of the Compensation team and is responsible for budgeting and strategic planning for compensation related items. The Sr Director - Compensation is responsible to align company strategy with established compensation principles and the pay for performance philosophy. This role will manage program design, administration and maintenance and risk governance to ensure employee compensation is equitable and market competitive in order to attract and retain employees in relation to the Total Rewards Strategy.

Job Responsibilities: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Compensation Strategy & Programs: Manages companywide compensation initiatives whether related to standard day to day activities, various programs, special projects, etc. Ensures proposed programs are market competitive and that internal equity is being managed throughout the company in partnership with HR stakeholders and in alignment with organizational strategy. Drives compensation and pay for performance philosophy in addition to executing compensation related components to the Total Rewards strategy. Additional considerations for how to communicate, educate, administer and measure impact of programs.
- Compensation Team Leadership: Oversee the development and work of the Compensation team. Assigns portfolio's, projects, and adhoc assignments as needed to the team. Provide coaching and development to the team and ensures the needs of the organization are being met with a high level of service and result in an efficient manner. Leads the team on compensation related projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Execution: Partnering closely with stakeholders to implement the human capital strategy, specific to the Compensation center of excellence. Provides pro-active and adhoc consulting on Compensation related matters. Partners with Risk and Compliance to ensure we are not exposing the company or driving unnecessary risk from the design of the incentive plan.
- Governance & Risk Management - Oversee development of policies and processes to ensure incentive plans comply with internal risk management frameworks and external regulatory expectations.
- Lead efforts to revise and streamline Compensation policies and processes to increase efficiencies, maintain market competitiveness and ensure compliance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures.
- Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions regarding plan design and administration.
- Analyzes and resolves problems pertaining to incentive and executive compensation programs and administration.
- Responsible for talent management functions including: employment, performance evaluations, staff development/training, disciplinary actions, succession planning and ensuring all staff comply with compliance requirements.
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES- Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
- Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Required Qualifications: - Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent.
- Minimum experience required: 12+ Years Progressive responsibility in Compensation (Specific to compensation program design, compensation analysis, process improvement and documentation and sales/incentive compensation or stock administration).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: - Workday Compensation experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work with numbers and large volumes of data with accuracy and speed.
Job Competencies: - Proven strength in providing feedback and delivering information to executives and leaders at all levels of the organization.
