Are you looking for a fast-paced Application Engineering role with exciting opportunities? Based in the West or Midwest region of the United States, you will be expected to support the sales team to demonstrate our technical competence to customers across North America. This position requires you to be on top of customer needs and collaborate with internal sales and technical teams to create architectures and bills of material for quotations of automation solutions. This role requires you to support the sales team with technical advantages that convince customers to choose your solution versus any competitors. This may include preparing technical demos, writing technical reports, or preparing the technical analysis.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Put customers first and help them tackle their challenges
  • Solve issues involving electrical/electronic control systems, PLC products, PLC applications/designs, operator interfaces, associated software, HMI/SCADA applications, and Edge based applications
  • Provide technical start-up support for new customers
  • Creation of product and solution demos
  • Create demo application programs using program languages including: Structure text, Function Block Diagramming, Ladder Logic, C, C++, SQL, Structure Text, VB, and VB.Net.
  • Present technical workshops to customers
  • Present formal training courses
  • Perform plant tours and site inspections
  • Write software code for proof of concepts
  • On site emergency technical support
  • Attend tradeshows and events
  • Create Bill of Material and System Architectures
  • Write technical articles, application notes, and work with product engineering team to manage knowledge base on products and solutions
  • Log and track technical support cases
  • Design, assemble, test and simulate systems to identify and resolve reported product issues.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product managers, engineers, sales and supply chain to provide feedback on market, or customer, needs and dynamics
  • Partner with our global marketing team and industry managers to implement local activities
  • Understand Salesforce.com CRM based activities and reporting

Who You Are:

You effectively communicate in various settings: one-on-one, small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels. You are a highly skilled technical professional with a deep understanding of product functionality and customer needs, dedicated to bridging the gap between technology and application by designing, implementing, and supporting customized solutions to effectively address client challenges, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction through close collaboration and problem-solving expertise

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or STEM
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering, or a systems integration role, preferably in industrial automation.
  • Working knowledge of discrete and hybrid automation systems. Technologies include Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), Variable Speed Drives (VSD’s), Servo Motion, Safety Systems (Emergency Shutdown and Fire & Gas), Operator Interfaces, HMI/SCADA software, and cloud/EDGE technologies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, some overnights. Most travel will be within West, Mid-West region.
  • Experience in multiple industrial communication protocols including Profibus, Modbus TCP/RTU, SNP/SNP-X, SRTP, DNP3, CANOPEN, Ethernet Global Data (EGD), GE Genius Bus, Device Net, Profinet, and Allen Bradley TCP/IP, DF1, DH485, DH+.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Able to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future


Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Sales experience in adjacent industries may be considered (information & operations technology / electrical / industrial or manufacturing software / MES & MIS / cloud computing / mechatronics / robotics / instrumentation / OEM equipment)
  • Safety Control Systems certifications, or qualifications
  • Programming experience in Python
  • Proven PLC Programming experience
  • Knowledge of MS SQL

​Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $110, 000 to $140, 000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.​ This role is eligible to participate in the sales incentive plan.
