About the Role Join our team! The City of Kentwood is seeking a Deputy Court Clerk to support the Criminal Division of the 62B District Court. This position is responsible for processing legal documents, maintaining court records, entering case information, scheduling hearing and supporting courtroom operations. This position also includes assisting court users in person and by phone. Our ideal candidate enjoys detailed administrative work, is highly organized, and can accurately manage multiple priorities simultaneously while providing professional service and working collaboratively in a fast-paced office environment. 62B District Court Mission To be a model of transparent justice, where every case is handled with confidence and efficiency from filing to disposition; to empower individuals to understand the court process so that trust is fostered, fairness is ensured, and quality of life is enhanced within the community we serve. What You'll Do Provide customer service and respond to inquiries from the public, attorneys, and law enforcement Prepare and manage court calendars, ensuring all materials and participants are ready for court proceedings Prepare, review, and process court orders and documents Maintain, organize, and update accurate court records and files Support court customers and proceedings Contribute to a positive team environment and provide professional service to all court users Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment Strong computer skills, including data entry and use of office software Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and comply with all court rules, statutes, policies, and procedures Strong communication and customer service skills, including working with diverse populations Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Experience in a court setting or with legal processes preferred While this role is assigned to the Criminal Division, job incumbant may be assigned to a different division of the court as needs change.
