Description:
General Function
Amsted Automotive Cold Forming & Finishing MI is looking for Industrial Engineer to optimize value streams, enhance material flow, and drive cost reduction initiatives. Work closely with manufacturing teams to implement process improvements, waste reduction strategies, and operational enhancements across various product lines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on optimization of process value streams, focusing on cost reduction and process efficiency.
- Partner with program management to evaluate and improve the new product value streams, identifying opportunities for cost savings and workflow enhancements.
- Oversee material flow optimization through identified plants, ensuring seamless movement and efficient utilization of resources.
- Manage the Conti brake piston product flow from the U.S. to Mexico, including packaging design and cell layout improvements in the Monterrey plant.
- Lead waste reduction efforts for various manufacturing and product value streams, implementing lean principles and continuous improvement strategies.
- Support customer experience enhancements by executing projects that improve product quality, reliability, and overall satisfaction.
- Define and document best practices to ensure consistency in operations and continuous improvement across production teams.
- Use data-driven methodologies to investigate production issues and implement corrective actions that enhance system reliability.
- Design and refine workstation layouts to improve worker ergonomics, efficiency, and safety compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Requirements / Knowledge
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience working with cross-border operations, packaging design, and facility layout optimization.
- Ability to collaborate with program management and cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in hands-on process optimization, material flow management, and manufacturing cost reduction.
Work Conditions
- Must be able to travel frequently to the different plants in the United States.
