About the Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanical Technician (Millwright) on behalf of one of our clients, a premier global building materials and industrial manufacturing organization.
Operating at the plant facility in Alpena, MI, you will play a critical role in keeping plant production and service equipment in reliable, peak operating condition. You will work within a safety-first team environment executing mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment operating duties.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine and complex mechanical maintenance on heavy industrial plant production and service equipment.
Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose mechanical failures, repair machinery, and resolve product spillage issues across the plant.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy tools and material handling equipment, including forklifts, skid loaders, teleforkers, chain falls, and come-alongs.
Tool & Work Area Maintenance: Maintain work tools, equipment, and shop inventory to ensure operational readiness.
Safety & Compliance: Execute all maintenance activities following standard work instructions, safety protocols, and plant health, safety, and environmental policies.
Teamwork & Flexibility: Work independently and collaboratively within team settings; perform required overtime duties as needed to support continuous plant operations.
Candidate Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or commercial setting.
Technical Skills: Basic mechanical troubleshooting abilities and familiarity with industrial hand/power tools.
Additional Requirements:
Safety Protocols: Ability to strictly follow all safety guidelines and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators. Candidates must be able to pass qualitative and quantitative fit testing (must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal contacts the face).
Continuous Learning: Willingness to participate in ongoing technical and safety training for career advancement.
