Job Description:

The Sr. Specialist, Procurement APAC Transportation will be responsible for supporting the APAC Transportation Procurement Category Leadership in implementing the Global category strategies for the spend of MedTech and Innovative Medicine. They will also support various global activities such as Supplier Relationship Management (“SRM”), Category Strategy update, Benchmark, etc. This individual will supervise, analyze and report on the organization’s activities and ability to deliver against targets for financial performance, quality, responsible sourcing, service and compliance adherence, for the assigned markets.

Key responsibilities includes:

  • Assist in developing and driving the Procurement strategy for, with and through the team member community, regionally
  • Assist in driving the strategy and implementation plan for Transportation Category spend to ensure they effectively meet the long-range requirements of the business partners and deliver the maximum value for both MedTech and Innovative Medicine
  • Interface directly with supplier management to ensure that MedTech and Innovative Medicine Business objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation and cost, etc.
  • Partner with Supply Chain operation teams of both MedTech and Innovative Medicine, referred to as the DELIVER and Inter Region Transport Excellence (“IRTE”), to set priorities to deliver annual value improvements, Sourcing events and drive competitive advantages
  • Deliver on financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments
  • Lead supplier relationships with strategic suppliers to include data review and analysis, performance management and development, and improvement of end-to-end value, including bringing innovations to enable the business
  • Act as SPOC (single point of contact) to manage and intensify issues that may impact Transportation Category
  • Primary geographical market: India, with potential expansion planned such as Korea.
  • Sub-categories in scope for the market(s) managed: parcel, courier, rail, ground, customs brokerage, etc..
  • They will be the APAC Customs Brokerage sub-category lead.
  • They are also encouraged to assist Air and Ocean (A& O) freight forwarding under the leadership of APAC A& O category Lead, and co-manage the APAC Transportation Procurement P& L dashboard.

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities

- Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance to financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments

- Manage supplier relationships, communicate vital changes to strategy, implement joint collaborative initiatives, supplier contract negotiations and supervise supplier performance

- Support in developing Global category strategies to include specific APAC sourcing strategy, contract implementation, inflation mitigation and performance against established targets

- Assist in the facilitation, development, implementation, and maintenance of processes, policies, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, and Business Operating Principles

- Analyze, supervise and develop reports on supplier performance around service, reliability, quality and innovation

- Assist in facilitate the reporting of supplier performance with strategic supplier leadership

-Assist in managing & prioritizing the portfolio of Procurement specific initiatives

Required Qualifications

Required Minimum Education: Bachelors, MBA or Equivalent

Required Years of Related Experience: 5~10 Years

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Broad-based understanding of core Procurement and Logistics (Transportation in particular) areas of focus regarding Supplier Management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present sophisticated information
  • Analytical, good judgment and decision making, problem solver
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering against targets and objectives
  • Demonstrated collaborative mind-set and behavior
  • Able to prioritize requests, and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when vital
  • Adequate knowledge and experience in managing India Transportation (parcel, courier, rail, ground, customs brokerage, etc.) market.
  • Proficient in data analytics and management; capable of leading discussions with clear and impactful metrics via Excel, Power BI etc.
  • Ability to maintain a healthy work-life balance through effective collaboration with teams across various time zones

Percentage Traveled: As per Business need

Preferred Related Industry: Experienced professional in logistics procurement environment for medical devices and pharmaceutical industries

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., supplier management and performance, supply market analysis, category management, procurement excellence, etc.)
  • Solid understanding in logistics processes specifically for Customs Brokerage, Air and Ocean freight forwarding in APAC. markets
  • Ability to develop a high level of credibility with internal team members, and with the supplier community
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
  • Sense of urgency and organization.
  • Proficiency in the Korean language would be an advantage.
