Who we areseeking: As the Compliance and Workout Officer, you will manage loan repayment, workout, and collection activities for CEI. This position is responsible for delinquency control, establishment and management of loan loss reserves, recovery activities, and charge-off recommendations, while supporting the overall quality and performance of the loan portfolio. The Compliance and Workout Officer works closely with Loan and Investment Officers to navigate workout strategies, monitor accounts, and works with clients to maintain healthy relationships. This position carries out duties while balancing CEIs need to maintain a high performing loan portfolio with its mission to build a just, vibrant, and climate-resilient future for people and communities in Maine and rural areas. You have experience in the loan credit and collections field. You are able to manage sensitive matters in the field of credit administration. You provide input in portfolio composition, including identification of macroeconomic trends and over exposure to industries, technologies or other risks. You conduct portfolio monitoring and compliance. Some of your key responsibilities in this role will be: Monitoring loan accounts to identify potential problems, delinquencies, and risk issues early. Working with Loan and Investment Officers to determine the causes of delinquency and develop resolution strategies. Engaging with borrowers to help cure delinquencies while maintaining positive customer relationships. Participating in loan evaluation and approval through CEIs Loan Group. Leading recovery efforts on charged-off accounts, including collateral actions, enforcement of guarantees, negotiations with co-lenders, and representation of CEIs interests in foreclosure, liquidation, and bankruptcy matters. Implementing corrective action for accounts 60 or more days delinquent, including preparing notices to cure and conducting collateral inspections or on-site collections. Providing input on portfolio risk, including macroeconomic trends, industry concentration, borrower exposure, and other portfolio risks. Monitoring portfolio compliance and performance, including reporting on delinquencies, loan loss reserves, risk ratings, and overall portfolio quality. Making quarterly charge-off recommendations as appropriate. Supporting loan staff with research, due diligence, administration, documentation, reporting, file maintenance, covenant compliance audits, collateral releases, subordinations, reaffirmations, forbearances, and legal proceedings. Preferred candidates will have: A bachelors degree and at least five years of experience in the loan credit / collections field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing sensitive matters while demonstrating great diplomacy and tact. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, LaserPro, and Salesforce Excellent verbal and written communication, understanding of different communication channels and literacy levels. Ability to adapt and embrace change. Familiarity with loan documents and security instruments. Other details: This is a full-time exempt position, with excellent benefits and generous time off. The posting range is $87, 000 -$90, 000 yearly. We work in a hybrid model, two days in the office (Tuesday and Thursday), and three days at home. This position is based at our headquarters in Brunswick, ME.
