Maximus is seeking a Software Architect to provide expertise to a federal client in support of their mission critical systems in defense of our Homeland.

We are seeking a Software Architect to provide advanced expertise in designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and high-performance software solutions for a federal client's critical operations. As a key leader on our team, the Software Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the architectural vision and guiding the development of complex software systems.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and translate business needs into software architecture solutions.
  • Design and lead the development of high-level and detailed software architectures, ensuring scalability, modularity, and maintainability.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools to achieve the desired software architecture goals.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural best practices and design patterns.
  • Lead code reviews, architectural reviews, and ensure the implementation aligns with the architectural vision.
  • Define and enforce coding standards, practices, and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality across software projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand system requirements and constraints, and design solutions that meet both technical and business needs.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and recommend their incorporation into software designs.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes, methodologies, and practices.


Required Skills:

  • Active Secret clearance is required .
  • This position requires a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Due to agency and contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens with no dual citizenship.
  • This contract supports systems that require 24x7x365 uptime. Candidates must be willing and able to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
  • Telework: Candidates must reside within a commutable distance and be available to work onsite at the customer's discretion. This includes being on-site during the transition period. Must be based around Annapolis Junction, MD.
  • This individual must be able to accommodate a rotational on-call schedule as needed.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Software Architect or related field.
  • Experience in some or all of the following: C loud technologies, microservices architecture, containerization.

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards.
