MARYLAND AUTOMOBILE INS FUND is hiring a Controller in Baltimore, MD. This is a full-time position.

Summary: This role involves leading and overseeing all accounting operations and financial reporting for both the Insured and Uninsured Divisions of Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund. This includes internal and external financial reporting and audit coordination. Responsibilities include supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis, managing budgeting and planning processes, and assessing and improving accounting operations and internal controls. This role is hybrid! Essential Functions: Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for complete and accurate accounting of financial results Coordinating with internal and external auditors Participating in providing Executive and the Board of Trustees with information vital to the decision-making process Overseeing management of the planning and budget process Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes Evaluating accounting and internal control systemswhich impact financial reporting Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed Overseeing regulatory reporting Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff Overseeing projections and forecasts including cash flow projections Presenting to the Boards of Trustees Serve as Fiscals liaison to legislative contacts and coordinate fulfillment of legislative-related requests Special audits or accounting projects as assigned . Required Skills/Competencies: In-depth knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles (STAT) applicable to Maryland Auto Financial project management, including oversight of system and application implementations Full range of analytical skills Strong leadership ability Strong communication skills both verbal and written Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Education & Experience Bachelors degree in accounting or finance required CPA credential preferred 7+ years accounting or similar experience required 5+ years experience managing a team
