Our Building Services Team and Projects
Our Building Services team, composed of skilled engineers and technical leaders, is key to optimizing building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort. While our work often goes unseen, it ensures the seamless operation of critical systems. We collaborate with architects and contractors to deliver integrated solutions across vertical structures, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection while focusing on sustainability and efficiency.

What will you be doing?
As an HVAC Project Engineer, you’ll work on impactful projects that improve community infrastructure and environmental quality. Heating and Cooling Load Calculations: Conduct detailed calculations to determine heating and cooling requirements for various building types and system configurations.
Equipment Sizing and Selection: Select and specify mechanical equipment, such as air handling units, chillers, boilers, and pumps, ensuring compliance with project requirements and energy efficiency goals.
Technical Specifications: Develop and prepare detailed technical specifications for mechanical systems and components.
Field Surveys: Conduct on-site evaluations of existing systems to gather data, assess conditions, and inform design recommendations.
Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with electrical, structural, architectural, and plumbing teams to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems into overall project designs.
Equipment Submittal Reviews: Review and approve equipment submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications and design intent.
Construction Support: Respond to contractor inquiries and provide technical guidance during construction to ensure successful system installation.
Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects on time and within budget across a range of sectors, including healthcare, municipal, higher education, industrial, and commercial.
HVAC Controls: Specify HVAC controls and write sequences of operations to ensure systems operate effectively and efficiently.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
5–8 years of experience in HVAC system design within a consulting engineering environment.
• Experience designing HVAC systems for healthcare, municipal, higher education, industrial, and commercial applications.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD MEP for developing mechanical system drawings and models.
• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards and applicable building codes.
• Experience specifying HVAC controls and writing sequences of operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (preferred or ability to obtain).
• Experience with HVAC design for water and wastewater facilities.
• Familiarity with sustainable design practices and energy modeling.
• Experience in commissioning and retro-commissioning HVAC systems.
• Advanced proficiency in HVAC analysis tools (e.g., HAP, TRACE 700).
