Description:

The Industrial Automation System Architect position is a part of Innovation & Technology, the CTO office of the Industrial Automation business unit.

What will you do?
  • Under the leadership of senior system architects, help define future industrial automation system architecture that incorporate advanced wireless and wired communication technologies and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions
  • Conduct technical assessment, experimentation, and proof-of-concept developments for emerging technologies and related applications relevant for the system architecture
  • Collaborate with other system architects, program managers, and business leaders to develop system-level strategy for industrial automation systems
  • Support the management of the technology pipeline for the evolution of industrial system platforms including as IoT, IIoT, edge control/compute and associated communication technologies
  • Participate in relevant internal and external standardization activities
  • Drive innovation with the objective to solve customers' pain points utilizing both mature and evolving platforms
Who will you report to?
  • You will report to the System Architecture Team Leader. This role is a hybrid position. You are required to report to the Andover, MA office at least 3 days a week and up to 25% travel a year.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering
  • 3+ years of experience developing wired and wireless networking technologies including IP, Ethernet, 5G, Wi-Fi (802.11), and related protocols
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid knowledge of software-defined technologies such as virtualization, containerization, orchestration and virtual networks
  • Experience building or supporting industrial automation systems and architectures
  • Skills and experience in software development (e.g., C, C++, Rust, ..)
  • Familiarity with industrial Ethernet and other fieldbuses such as OPC UA, EtherNet/IP
  • Familiarity with system engineering and modeling
