Job Description
New England Biolabs, Inc. is hiring a Post-baccalaureate Fellowship in Ipswich, MA. This is a full-time position.
The Mass Spectrometry core lab within Process Development (PDMS) is seeking a Post-baccalaureate Fellow to develop a method that would replace in-gel digests as the means of identifying protein degradation. Additionally, this candidate will support core sample preparation and analysis for PDMS. This role is suited for an individual interested in expanding their analytical biochemistry skillset, while contributing to the mission of Process Development: developing manufacturing processes that deliver high quality reagents for our customers. The successful candidate will possess a familiarity with protein biochemistry and an interest in learning about the use of mass spectrometry for proteomics.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Biochemical assays including enzymatic assays, SDS-PAGE, and protein/peptide quantification
- Sample preparation via proteolytic digests (in-gel, FASP, MAP)
- Operation of ESI-MS/MS instruments (Ascend, QE)
- Processing, interpretation, and reporting of data (PEAKS, Protein Metrics)
- Composition of buffers and standards for use by the PDMS lab
- Calibration of laboratory instruments including mass spectrometers and liquid chromatography systems
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related field
- General understanding of proteins (e.g. structures and functions) and the tools utilized for their analysis
- Hands-on laboratory experience (e.g. pipetting, centrifugation)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively
- Strong multi-tasking skills
- Enthusiasm for learning new things

Estimated salary for a Postbaccalaureate Fellow is $50, 000
Base salary decisions depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, individual qualifications, job location, internal equity, and market data alignment.
