The role
We are hiring a Field Applications Scientist for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) sample prep automation. In this role you will serve as a technical field contact for customers, including providing pre-sales technical interactions, and troubleshooting support, in conjunction with the in-house team. This role is based at our Ipswich, MA headquarters.
How you’ll contribute:
Coordinate with Field Account Managers and NGS Field Application Scientists to support customers who are evaluating or implementing automated solutions for the NEBNext NGS sample prep product portfolio.
Collaborate closely and effectively with automation vendors to prioritize and manage automated method development for NEBNext protocols, including generation of data to be used for promotional efforts, including scientific posters, technical application notes, and other collateral to support automated use of NGS products.
Work closely with internal Applications and Development resources to generate automated methods for NEB products ahead of new product launches.
Provide on-site automation method development and qualification, installation of existing methods, and customer training.
Provide post-sales technical support services to customers running automated NEBNext protocols.
Activities will be focused primarily in the U.S., but may include some support (primarily remote) of international NEB Subsidiaries and customers.
Provide technical and customer feedback to the product development and marketing teams related to compatibility with automated platforms.
Be committed to providing exceptional customer service.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a core life science field.
Demonstrated practical knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing sample preparation workflows and applications.
Experience and demonstrated proficiency with scripting and operating automated liquid handling systems.
Strong project management skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Be self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to travel (primarily domestic) > 60% of time.
What will make you stand out:
Advanced degree (Masters or PhD).
Customer-facing experience.
Experience programming across a range of liquid handling platforms, including Hamilton NGS STAR, Beckman Coulter i7, PerkinElmer Sciclone NGS, Agilent Bravo and Tecan NGS DreamPrep.
Estimated base salary hiring range for the Field Application Scientist, NGS Automation is $90, 000-$115, 000
Base salary is one component of our generous total rewards compensation package. Employees are eligible to receive:
