Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health (BH) Clinician provides comprehensive crisis intervention and stabilization, to persons with acute psychiatric issues, serious mental illness, dual diagnoses, and substance use-related issues, to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and lengthy emergency department stays, to de-escalate and prevent worsening or future crises. Will also provide assessment for determination of need for higher level of care, including inpatient psychiatric hospitalization and crisis stabilization units.

Education

  • Graduate from an accredited Masters in Social Work, Psychology, or Education (MSW/MEd/MA/MS) program or Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD. /PhD.)
  • Current Massachusetts license (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, LICSW, Licensed Psychologist) or license eligibility.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a community health, behavioral health, or hospital setting, preferred.

Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence-based treatments for medical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Ability to work through brief patient contacts as well as to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of behavioral conditions
  • Comfortable with the pace of behavioral health urgent or emergency care, within an interdisciplinary team
  • Working knowledge of psychopharmacology
  • Ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for treatment of selected chronic conditions
  • Two clinically relevant, supervised internships
  • Two favorable recommendations attesting to clinical competency from field placement supervisors or employment clinical supervisors
  • Bilingual preferred (may be required for specific positions). Bicultural preferred
  • Awareness of and demonstrated commitment to the delivery of culturally competent care
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, including mastery of EBNHC’s EMR, Epic
  • Interest in deepening the development of areas of clinical specialty and the assumption of non-direct care responsibilities. Examples of non-direct care responsibilities include the supervision of staff and interns, and assisting in the development of clinical protocols and policies
