Description:

Are you interested in gaining experience in childcare? Do you want to build your skills by engaging with children at an organization that makes a difference in the community? Join the Kids' Club team!

As a Kids Club Staff Member, you are responsible for creating a caring and safe environment for our youngest participants who visit the Kids Club drop-in babysitting room. You will provide supervision for each child who visits by engaging in play and curriculum-based activities while maintaining a safe space as parents utilize the facility at the Y. Our Kids Club staff build positive relationships with members, program participants, guests, and children, greeting them by name and making them feel welcome and safe as they regularly utilize this service as part of their membership.

This position also has opportunities to work in our Friday Night Fun program, Club Mid program, and Project Adventure program. We are looking for teens that are 15 yrs or older.

To thrive in this position you must have experience supporting the supervision of youth at play or in a structured program and understand the growth and development of children from infants through elementary school. You enjoy engaging with community members and can communicate in a positive and effective way, including positive redirections to children. You are creative and can engage children in activities that inspire interest and maintain their attention. You are empathetic and compassionate, supportive of all our participant's unique needs.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • Previous experience working with youth or children preferred
  • Must have a fun and adventurous attitude.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
  • Physically and mentally acts appropriately and immediately to unexpected circumstances
