Are you an experienced early childhood or out-of-school time leader ready to take your leadership to the next level? The YMCA of the North Shore is looking for a Director of Education Operations to provide strategic leadership across our Amesbury and Georgetown education programs.

This is a multi-site leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple Site Coordinators and supporting them in delivering exceptional programs for children, youth, and families. The Director of Education Operations provides the leadership, coaching, accountability, and resources needed to ensure our programs are safe, high-quality, financially sustainable, compliant, and aligned with the YMCA mission.

We are looking for a leader who knows how to develop other leaders, navigate the day-to-day realities of education programming, build strong teams, and turn organizational goals into successful program operations.
What You'll Do

Lead Multiple Sites & Develop Leaders
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across assigned education programs in Amesbury and Georgetown.
  • Directly oversee and support multiple Site Coordinators, providing coaching, mentorship, feedback, and accountability.
  • Develop Site Coordinators into confident, effective leaders who can successfully manage their teams and programs.
  • Establish clear expectations and performance standards and follow through on accountability.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess operations, support staff, identify challenges, and ensure consistency across locations.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, retention, professional development, and succession planning for program leaders and staff.
  • Foster a collaborative culture built on communication, teamwork, innovation, and shared accountability.

Drive Program Quality & Growth
  • Lead strategic planning and continuous improvement for Early Learning, Out-of-School Time, Camp, and other assigned education programs.
  • Partner with Site Coordinators to strengthen enrollment, retention, staffing, program quality, and participant experience.
  • Review program data and performance trends to identify opportunities and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Ensure programs meet YMCA of the North Shore standards, community needs, organizational priorities, and applicable licensing and contractual requirements.
  • Identify operational challenges and work with site leadership to develop practical, sustainable solutions.

Support Financial & Operational Success
  • Provide oversight of program budgets, enrollment, staffing plans, expenses, revenue, and resource allocation.
  • Partner with Site Coordinators to develop strategies that support financial sustainability and responsible resource management.
  • Monitor key operational and financial indicators across assigned locations.
  • Use data to inform decisions and strengthen the overall performance of assigned programs.

Champion Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure programs consistently meet EEC licensing requirements, applicable regulations, contractual requirements, and YMCA of the North Shore safety standards.
  • Monitor compliance, required documentation, staffing requirements, and health and safety practices.
  • Partner with Site Coordinators to address compliance concerns and implement corrective action plans when needed.
  • Maintain readiness for EEC inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
  • Promote a culture where safety, compliance, and accountability are everyone's responsibility.

Build Community Partnerships
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with EEC, school districts, municipalities, community organizations, higher education institutions, and other community partners.
  • Represent the YMCA at community and partnership meetings as appropriate.
  • Build trust with families, staff, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor community needs and trends and help guide the development and adaptation of programs and services.
  • Partner with the Local Y Executive Director and Association staff on fundraising, grants, marketing, recruitment, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Share best practices across locations and the Association to strengthen education programming.
