Position Overview: The Cost Engineer - Value Engineering will be responsible for identifying cost-saving opportunities, enhancing product value, and optimizing manufacturing processes through detailed cost analysis and engineering support. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and finance to ensure cost-effective product development without compromising on quality or performance.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities: - Conduct detailed cost analysis of components, assemblies, and systems to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Support value engineering initiatives by evaluating product designs for functionality, manufacturability, and material usage.
- Collaborate with engineering and procurement to source alternative materials or components with cost or performance benefits.
- Develop and maintain cost models and databases for standard parts and processes.
- Provide cost estimates during product development stages to guide design and sourcing decisions.
- Participate in design reviews and lead cost-related discussions with cross-functional teams.
- Analyze production processes and suggest improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and cost objectives throughout the product lifecycle
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field); Master's degree is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in cost engineering, value analysis, or related roles in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost structures, product design, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in cost estimation tools and methodologies.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Experience with CAD software and ERP systems (Syteline experience is a plus).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Travel Requirements - Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time
