The Opportunity

You will serve as a hands-on field leader for Building Restoration Services, directing commercial masonry and building-envelope restoration projects throughout the I-495 belt in Massachusetts.

This is a true working foreman position. You will lead from the field, working directly alongside BRS masonry mechanics and laborers while taking ownership of daily production, workmanship, coordination, and safety.

The successful candidate must be comfortable joining and strengthening existing BRS crews, sharing technical masonry knowledge, training team members, and helping improve field execution. Over time, this role may also provide the opportunity to build, develop, and lead a dedicated masonry crew within BRS.

We are looking for someone who understands existing buildings, recognizes why masonry systems deteriorate or leak, and knows how to execute durable repairs while maintaining the original appearance and performance of the structure.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Work hands-on alongside BRS masonry and restoration crews.
• Integrate effectively with existing foremen, mechanics, and laborers.
• Lead, train, mentor, and develop masonry mechanics and laborers.
• Build and develop a dedicated masonry crew within BRS when appropriate.
• Lay out daily work, assign responsibilities, and establish realistic production goals.
• Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, details, field reports, and manufacturer requirements.
• Verify mortar types, mix proportions, colors, tooling profiles, and installation methods.
• Identify concealed deterioration, unstable masonry, and substrate problems before repairs proceed.
• Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, access systems, and jobsite requirements.
• Maintain quality control throughout removal, preparation, installation, curing, and final finish.
• Plan work to protect occupants, pedestrians, adjacent finishes, roofs, windows, landscaping, and surrounding property.
• Document existing conditions, completed work, and daily progress with clear photographic records.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and building representatives.
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites.
• Enforce BRS safety requirements and OSHA standards.
• Safely coordinate and perform work from pipe staging, system scaffold, mast climbers, swing stages, and aerial lifts.
• Take ownership of assigned projects from initial setup through punch-list completion.

Masonry Restoration Experience

The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on experience with:

• Commercial masonry restoration and building-envelope repair.
• Brick removal, replacement, and rebuilding.
• Historic and modern masonry repointing using appropriate mortar mixes, profiles, and tooling.
• Stone masonry repair, replacement, resetting, and Dutchman repairs.
• Cast-stone and precast concrete repair and replacement.
• Concrete repair including demolition, reinforcing-steel preparation, and patch installation.
• Lintel replacement, shelf-angle repairs, and associated flashing work.
• Through-wall flashing, end dams, weeps, and masonry drainage systems.
• Crack repair, stitching, and localized masonry stabilization.
• Sealant joints and transitions where masonry interfaces with windows, panels, and adjacent materials.
• Masonry cleaning, paint and coating removal, and water-repellent application.
• Matching existing brick, stone, mortar color, texture, and joint profiles.
• Temporary protection, shoring, and safe restoration sequencing.
• Leak investigation and correction of water-entry conditions at exterior walls.
• Work on occupied commercial, institutional, residential, and historic buildings.

Experience with commercial building restoration is essential.

Experience with historic masonry, difficult access conditions, and occupied properties is highly desirable.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Approximately 5+ years of hands-on commercial masonry restoration experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of existing-building masonry repair and restoration techniques.
• Ability to identify deterioration, water-entry conditions, unstable masonry, and substrate problems.
• Ability to read plans, specifications, details, field reports, and manufacturer requirements.
• Strong knowledge of mortar selection, mixing, matching, tooling, and installation methods.
• Ability to plan and coordinate labor, materials, access equipment, and production requirements.
• Strong understanding of quality-control requirements for masonry and restoration work.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
• Ability to work safely at heights and in active commercial construction environments.
• Active OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively with field crews, project managers, superintendents, engineers, and client representatives.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Previous crew-lead, supervisor, or foreman experience.
• Historic masonry restoration experience.
• Experience working on occupied commercial, institutional, residential, or historic properties.
• Experience with difficult-access restoration projects.
• Scaffold-user certification.
• Aerial-lift certification.
• Swing-stage certification.
• Manufacturer-specific restoration or material certifications.
• Experience training and developing masonry mechanics and laborers.
