About the Role:

The Local Risk Expert supports regional risk management by executing on-the-ground assessments, ensuring risk controls, and

maintaining alignment with Alcoa’s standards. This role is essential for embedding risk practices at the operational level, supporting site leaders, and fostering a proactive risk and safety culture.

• Risk Implementation: Execute ORM activities to identify, assess, and manage site-specific risks, supporting operational safety and performance.

• Control Monitoring: Track the effectiveness of risk controls and provide timely updates on risk status.

• Local Alignment: Work closely with site leadership to ensure adherence to regional and global risk standards

Risk Identification and Assessment:

  • Facilitate the implementation of risk identification and assessment processes across the location.

  • Ensure comprehensive risk evaluations, analyzing potential impact and likelihood to prioritize risks effectively.

  • Maintain and update the local risk register, ensuring alignment with corporate governance standards

Risk Mitigation and Control:

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and control frameworks to minimize the impact of identified risks.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, continuously improving risk controls and procedures.

Risk Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Establish a system for ongoing monitoring and tracking of operational risks, ensuring timely escalation of significant risks.

  • Provide regular, accurate risk reports to senior leadership, offering insights to inform strategic decision-making.

Integration into Operations:

  • Embed ORM processes into daily operational routines, ensuring that risk management is part of standard meetings, planning sessions, and certification processes.

Continuous Improvement and Compliance:

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts within the ORM framework, recommending enhancements to internal controls and risk management systems.

  • Ensure that risk management practices meet both internal standards and external regulatory requirements, particularly in areas related to safety and compliance.

Capacity Building:

  • Support the development of training material and facilitate training sessions fostering a culture of proactive risk management and continuous learning.

What you can bring to this role:

  • Degree in Engineering. Master’s degree is desirable.

  • Experience in a mining/metals industry is desirable.

  • Experience in Operational Risk Management role.

  • Good communication and reporting abilities, especially in presenting risk analyses and performance metrics to management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to influence and establish relationships with collaborators at various levels of organization.

  • High ethical standards of conduct, team collaborative efforts.

  • Fluency in languages: Advanced English in writing and communication
