SUMMARY
SHERO “Shaping Healthy Equitable Reproductive Outcomes” program integrates medicine, public health and prioritizes technology to improve the health, lives and wellbeing of moms-to-be and their babies. SHERO’s vision is to advance equity by eliminating the Black maternal & infant mortality/morbidity crisis across the US.
We are seeking a dynamic, resilient, and trailblazing Perinatal Community Health Worker to join our SHERO NOLA team. This isn’t a typical social services role. This is a grant-funded, hybrid, full time, benefited position. The Perinatal Community Health Worker position is grant funded and renewed annually based on performance and funding availability.
Employment is provided by Heluna Health.
The salary for this position is $19.25 per hour.
Must be a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana to qualify for this position.
If hired for this position, applicant will be required to provide proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 prior to the start date; or have a valid religious or medical reason qualifying the applicant for an exemption (that may or may not require accommodation). The applicant will need to have the qualifying exemption.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Community Outreach
• Build trusted relationships with community members and enroll pregnant and postpartum individuals into SHERO NOLA.
• Represent SHERO NOLA at community events, clinics, and partner sites.
• Facilitate outreach efforts, awareness campaigns, and presentations to connect families to perinatal resources.
• Collaborate with organizations such as WIC, Medicaid, Healthy Start, housing, and food programs.
Perinatal Education and Support
• Provide culturally competent guidance on prenatal care, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, nutrition, infant care, and more.
• Offer emotional and social support during pregnancy and postpartum.
• Connect moms to clinical services, mental health support, and SHERO’s tech tools and networks.
• Engage moms via social media platforms, contributing to SHERO’s digital visibility.
Data Collection and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions and services.
• Track program outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years in community outreach, maternal health, perinatal health, customer service, technology or peer support.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Zoom, and mobile devices.
• Comfort with Apple products (iMessage, FaceTime).
• Experience creating social media content (reels, stories, posts).
Certificates/Licenses/Clearances
• A valid Louisiana Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related essential functions.
• Background check required.
