Job Description

Maximus is hiring a Health Confidence Coach in New Orleans, LA. This is a full-time position.

1. Participant engagement and relationship building

• Build trusted, strengths-based relationships with participants, using inclusive, trauma-informed and accessible communication.

• Explain the Health Confidence offer, including its non-clinical boundaries, participant choice and what to expect from the pathway.

• Support engagement, re-engagement and sustained participation using personalised contact methods and practical problem solving.

2. CF Needs Assessment, Passport and support planning

• Complete or contribute to the Work Star and Health Confidence Passport as the CF Needs Assessment approach, ensuring participant voice is captured.

• Identify strengths, aspirations, motivators, primary barriers and practical support needs without requiring diagnosis or medical disclosure

• Co-produce Health Confidence goals and actions within the Support Plan and update progress at agreed review points.

3. Delivery of Six Well Modules

• Deliver approved one-to-one and group coaching sessions across Think Well, Move Well, Sleep Well, Connect Well, Live Well and Work Well.

• Use evidence-informed behaviour-change and supported self-management techniques, including goal setting, action planning, problem solving, feedback and routine building.

• Support participants to build confidence, self-belief, routine, participation and readiness for employment-related activity.

4. Pathway matching and progression

• Support the participant and EA to identify the primary route: Physical Confidence or Mental Confidence, based on the current barrier with greatest impact.

• Adjust module selection as participant needs evolve, including adding modules from the alternative pathway when appropriate.

• Link Health Confidence progress to work-focused activity, skills, volunteering, employer conversations and sustainable employment where appropriate.

5. Safeguarding, boundaries and escalation

• Recognise and escalate safeguarding, crisis, urgent health or risk concerns in line with organisational procedures.

• Maintain accurate, objective and defensible records of concerns, actions and outcomes.

• Operate within role boundaries and seek advice from the Health System Navigator, Safeguarding Lead or Clinical Governance Lead where required.

6. Quality, evidence and continuous improvement

• Capture evidence of engagement, module delivery, participant goals, progress milestones and learning through the Passport and case records.

• Contribute to quality assurance, reflective practice, case reviews and continuous improvement activity.

• Share insight on participant barriers, module usefulness and service gaps with the delivery team.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Experience supporting people with complex barriers to employment, health, confidence or participation.

• Experience delivering one-to-one coaching, group sessions or employability support.

• Knowledge of long-term conditions, mental wellbeing barriers, neurodiversity and disability from a functional participation perspective.

• Understanding of health inequalities, social determinants of health and barriers to work.

• Experience using action plans, support plans or participant-owned tools to evidence progress.

Desirable

• Level 3 Diploma in Employability Services Sector or willingness to work towards.

• Health and Wellbeing Coach, coaching or behaviour-change qualification.

• Mental Health First Aid or equivalent awareness training.

• Experience in Restart, IPES, IPS, supported employment, social prescribing or community health programmes

• Membership of the Institute of Employability Professionals or equivalent professional interest.

Travel Requirement: Ability to travel within Enfield, Waltham Forest, Newham, Barking, Redbridge, Havering, Greenwich & Bromley areas
