Job Summary:

The Satellite Engineer manages the health and safety of the satellite electrical power subsystem for a constellation of Globalstar satellites of multiple generational designs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manages the health and safety of on orbit Electrical Power Subsystem
  • Performs short-term and long-term data analysis and trending

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with NetSuite
  • Possesses deep understanding of lithium-ion batteries
  • Has thorough knowledge of solar arrays, power conditioning and distribution, and associated components
  • Demonstrates proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and SQL
  • Has familiarity and/or can attain an understanding of
    • Thermal subsystem
    • STK
    • Orbital dynamics

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or other STEM equivalent)
  • 3+ years of satellite Electrical Power Subsystem (EPS) experience (or equivalent)
  • 3+ years of work experience in satellite payload systems and related software development experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
