Job Summary:

The NOC (Network Operations Center) Operator works from the Covington, LA location. This position will receive experience in satellite telecommunications, network monitoring, and system troubleshooting. Organizational, analytical, and time management skills will help drive success in this position. Having outstanding interpersonal and communication skills will allow them to work efficiently with other team members to maintain the successful operation of our global ground (Gateways) and space-based (Satellite) networks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Learn the components, functions, and interfaces of the Globalstar networks
  • Monitor and control the Globalstar worldwide ground and space-based networks using customized and standard network monitoring tools
  • Learn the details of commanding and controlling the Globalstar Satellite Constellation
  • Use experience, trending analysis, and external input to prevent or minimize system outages
  • Isolate and resolve any network issues in a timely manner and document all activities with the “JIRA” ticketing system
  • Work with Gateway, Satellite, System Engineering, Information Technology, Customer Relations, and other Globalstar departments to ensure the successful operation of the Globalstar network
  • Draft and maintain operations procedures, training materials, and other documents

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with NetSuite
  • Problem solving skills
  • Good understanding of workstation operations, computer operating systems, and network monitoring tools
  • Complete all required training and certification within the prescribed timeframe
  • Flexible shift schedule to support 24/7/365 network operations; must be willing to work any shift

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:

  • Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline
  • Experience with Technical Support and other troubleshooting entities preferred
  • Complete all required training and certification within the prescribed timeframe
  • Flexible shift schedule to support 24/7/365 network operations
  • CCNA certified a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
