DHL Express currently has an opening for a Director of Engineering. This role requires a highly motivated, empowering professional dedicated to ensuring DHL’s adherence to unit cost management, operational optimization, facility standards and service excellence. This role provides leadership to the process engineering and infrastructure teams. The Director of Ground Operations and Engineering works collaboratively with colleagues in other areas of the business to support and exceed customer expectations and requirements.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

· Safety-First, ensures that facilities and processes are engineered to ensure the safety and well-being of our people

· Represents the company externally to local municipalities and other government agencies

· Drive Operational KPI’s in cost and service. Prepares or arranges preparation of engineering’s consolidated budget, reports, and forecasts and ensures they are communicated in a timely manner to top management

· Develop and implement initiatives that will ensure DHL provides market-leading service relative to our cost position driving innovation and delivering on our customer promise

· Ensure DHL meets its regulatory and environmental obligations, manage contractors service performance levels

· Effective implementation and execution of the GSOP policies and objectives within the Canadian service center & gateway operations

· Manage the implementation of significant, country-wide, Network wide programs/projects in alignment with Regional and Global programs and strategies

· Develop and implement ground operations and engineering strategies to support business objectives, including delivery network optimization, transportation planning, and equipment maintenance

· Manage and develop a team of ground operations and engineering staff members including Managers, Supervisors, and engineers

· Establish best practices, methodologies, and standards for ground operations and engineering

· Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction

· Provide technical expertise and guidance to teams and stakeholders

· Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability

· Manage ground operations, engineering, and infrastructure projects from conception to delivery

· Ensure that material handling equipment comply with relevant regulations, policies, and standards.

· Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and external partners

· Contributes precedent-setting innovations/solutions.

· Negotiates highly complex, technical contractual issues on behalf of the company.

· Forecasts facility, vehicle, staffing and/or material handling equipment needs in order to improve cost, utilization, service, and efficiencies.

· Determine organization structure, roles and responsibility and performance targets for the functions. Develop IKOs/KPIs/IDPS with team and monitor individual performance
